Create yourself a set of accounts based on a the default UK VAT accounts. Edit

The screen shots below are taken from Gnucash version 2.2.9 r17949M running on Ubuntu 9.04.

Create a new file. Edit

Account File Creation Wizard Starts Edit

Choose GBP as the currency Edit

Unselect the Common Categories Edit

Select the UK VAT Accounts Categories Edit

NB: If you can not see the "UK VAT Accounts" category, you may need to update your locale seetings to en_GB. See here: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Locale_Settings

Enter opening balances if you have any. These can be put in later as well. Edit

Press Apply and have the wizard create File for you. Edit

Press Ctrl-Alt-S to save the file Edit
